Sweet Encounter Bakery & Café’s menu is constantly expanding to create delicious allergy-friendly treats everyone can enjoy.  Hopefully the FAQ below will assist you in selecting the desserts and food right for you

 

What Products Are Gluten Free?

All our products are gluten free.  Currently, we bake in a kitchen that also makes non-gluten free items.  However, we take great care to reduce any cross contamination. We use our own dedicated gluten free equipment - mixers, bowls, pans, utensils, etc. 

What Products are Dairy and/or Egg Free?

Most of our foods are baked and prepared with dairy and eggs.  However, our Dark Chocolate Goodness Cake and most of our breads are gluten, dairy and egg free.  We can accommodate most allergies.  If you need a dairy and/or egg free menu item, please specify when ordering. 

 

Are Your Products Tree Nut Free?

We do sell products containing tree nuts.  Our flour blends and other ingredients, unless noted, are nut free.  However, these ingredients are manufactured in a facility that also processes nuts.  We do use coconut milk and oil in some of our recipes. 

 

Are All Your Products Peanut Free?

Yes, all of our baked goods are peanut free. We are a peanut free facility.

 

Are All Your Products Soy Free?

We do not bake with soy and we seek to use only soy free ingredients.  Unfortunately,  some of our purveyors may process soy in their facilities.  Most manufacturers are diligent to avoid cross-contamination, but that is outside our control.

 

Soy lecithin is either processed near or included in products we use, especially chocolate. Lecithin is an effective emulsifier and stabilizer, making it an important element in all kinds of food preparation. The process removes most of the primary allergens from soy, and the Food Allergy Research and Resource Program (FARRP) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) has found that it contains insufficient amounts to cause a reaction in most individuals.  While we strive to avoid purchasing products containing any form of soy, customers must decide for themselves what constitutes safe consumption.

 

Do You Use Artificial Dyes In Your Food?

Currently, we use food coloring containing dyes.   If you would like to order something dye-free, we will do our best to accommodate you. 

 

What Products Are Vegan?

Several of our products are gluten free and vegan.  We can also make any cake/cupcake flavor vegan.

 

Do you make Specialty cakes?

We do offer custom birthday and wedding cakes. Please call for more details on pricing.  

 

Store Policies

 

Ordering

Currently, we only accept phone (local to Lansing Area) and mail orders.  Please place your order at least 48 hours in advance and at least 72 hours for large orders. 

 

Changes/Cancellations

We require a 48 hour notice by phone for all orders changes and/or cancellations.  We custom make all our desserts and foods especially for you and therefore need proper notification to change and/or cancel your order. 

 

Refunds

All products becomes the customer’s responsibility once you have left Sweet Encounter Bakery & Café.  Please beware that cakes, cupcakes, pie, cookies and dessert bars are very fragile.  Do not leave your desserts in a hot car because they will melt. 

If for some reason your product(s) does not live up to your full expectations and you are not 100% satisfied, please return the product(s) within 1 business day, for a full refund.  All refunds are in the form of a store credit.
